Welcome to the
Annual Disability Employment Network Conference

Conference '08 Welcome to the Annual Disability Employment Network Conference presented by ACE. This year’s event will be from Wednesday September 30th to Friday October 2nd 2009 at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, Queensland.

The ACE Conference is an important annual event for disability employment professionals. As part of its ongoing commitment to industry development and growth, ACE aims to provide delegates with opportunities to think, question and respond to a range of critical industry issues in ways that are meaningful to their organisation, jobseekers with disability and the industry more broadly.

Who should attend? Anyone with an interest in employment assistance for people with disability including: management and staff of the Disability Employment Network; Vocational Rehabilitation Service providers; Job Services Australia providers; advocates, training organisations; policy makers; researchers; employers and their representatives.

About The Conference

This year’s conference program has been strongly informed by feedback received from Conference 2008 participants. Subsequently, a broad range of topics will be covered in the conference program and, as was the case in 2008, there will be no overarching theme.

Key issues we do intend to explore in 2009 include the impact of significant challenges in the global economy and the pending tender for disability employment services. Change management, maintaining stability in turbulent times and staying focused on the end game will all feature in this year’s program.

Another key area of focus will be how best to strengthen sector advocacy efforts. How do we best effect change for jobseekers with disability and the services that support them in what continues to be a highly dynamic and challenging policy context? How do we strengthen the sector’s collective ‘voice’?
